Knowledge, attitudes, and readiness about critical antimicrobial resistant organisms among healthcare workers at colonial war memorial hospital in Fiji: a pre and post intervention study

  09 September 2024

A study at Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) in Fiji found that healthcare workers (HCW) were aware of and prepared for managing patients with infections caused by critical antimicrobial resistant organisms (CARs). The majority of respondents were female and aged 18-34. Post-intervention, more HCW reported receiving infection prevention and control education and training. Most nurses and doctors were aware of AMR transmission and knew IPC measures. Attitudes towards AMR were positive, with 84.2% of HCW willing to change their work environment. However, readiness for outbreak response and treatment of AMR infections required more attention.
